As they share their profound bush wisdom, you'll gain a glimpse into their distinctive and captivating culture. The game drives will unveil the captivating beauty of this area, inhabited by a diverse array of desert-adapted wildlife such as oryx, as well as predators like lions, hyenas, and cheetahs. Rise with the sun for a brief morning game drive before making your way to the Makgadikgadi area. Your overnight stay awaits at a camp situated on the periphery of the Makgadikgadi National Park, offering picturesque views of the Boteti River in Khumaga village. After arriving at the camp for lunch, indulge in a short siesta before embarking on an afternoon game drive along the scenic Boteti River.
Day 4-6: Boteti River Camp – Khwai (Day 1 - B, D, Day 2 - B, L, D) (340km)
Following breakfast, your journey heads west, with a stopover in Maun for lunch (at your own expense) at a local restaurant. Continuing towards Khwai, your drive traverses beautiful wildlife areas, providing opportunities for game viewing along the way. Optionally, you can enhance your adventure with a helicopter transfer to Khwai in the afternoon (45 minutes, rate to be advised by your guide/agent – booking and payment in USD to be arranged during the safari). Your destination is the Khwai River area, situated on the border of the Moremi Game Reserve, renowned as one of Botswana's premier wilderness regions. Over the next three days, you'll immerse yourself in the search for the diverse wildlife and birds that call this area home, all while taking in the captivating sounds and beauty of the surroundings. Game drives will explore the Khwai River vicinity (North-east Moremi / Khwai Concession), and there's also an opportunity for a mokoro excursion (dugout canoe) on a tributary of the Khwai River. A picnic lunch break en-route will be followed by your arrival at the lodge in the late afternoon. Your time will be immersed in the northern reaches of Chobe, a park teeming with wildlife due to the consistent water supply from the Chobe River throughout the year. Witness large herds of elephants and buffalo, a common sight in this region. The high concentration of herbivores also attracts predators, including lions and leopards. During your stay at Chobe Elephant Camp, engage in game drives and a boat cruise within Chobe National Park, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of the diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife in the area.
