Namibia, known fondly as “The place of Wide-Open Spaces” became independent from South Africa on the 21st March 1990, after a long history of conflict in Angola known as the border war. The capital city of Windhoek lies in the central parts and has a population of just 450 000 people and a total country population of 2.5 Million. Namibia borders Angola to the North, Botswana to the East and South Africa to the south. The tip of the Caprivi strip meets 4 countries which include Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Flanked to the west is the Atlantic Ocean rich in marine life which sustains the fisheries industries. Agriculture, Mining and Tourism form the largest economies of the country.
Namibia spans 824 292 km² which is 1.5 times the size of France or half the size of Alaska, but predominantly desert to savannah and mopane woodlands in the north, Namibia boasts vast areas of private game farm concessions and etosha national park namibia making the country an ideal travel destination and one of Africa natural jewels to visit.
With its rich history including the colonisation by Germany pre WW1 and by South Africa post WW! to Independence in 1990, the locals of many nationalities call this home.

Namibia is regarded as one of the safest countries to travel in the world and therefore makes it an ideal self-drive destination as well as Profesional guided safaris to choose from. The Namibia Dollar is the standard currency tender as well as the South African Rand. All other currencies will need to be exchanged. Namibia is Malaria free for the most part but must be observed during the rainy season (October - May) in the Northern parts bordering Angola and Zimbabwe along the Kunene, Chobe and Linyanti River systems.
