Day 1-3: Maun – Okavango Delta (Camping) (B, L, D) (75km)
The safari commences in Maun, where your guide will meet you at a predetermined location.
Upon reaching the edge of the Okavango Delta along the Gomoti River, you will encounter local polers from the community, guiding mokoro (dugout canoes). Serenely navigating through river channels and floodplains, you'll immerse yourself in the spectacular landscape of this unique region, delving deep into the heart of the Delta. Over the next three days, explore this enchanting area with mokoro excursions and guided nature walks on the islands and floodplains of the Okavango. Camping in the wild with bush ablutions, you'll spend two nights on a small island and one night on the edge of a lagoon.
On the afternoon of the third day, you'll have the option of a 30-minute helicopter flight with doors removed, offering magnificent views from above. The rate will be advised by your guide/agent, and this experience must be booked during the safari, with payment made in USD cash only. The flight over the Okavango provides an eagle’s eye perspective, with the chance to spot large game animals such as elephants, giraffes, and hippos.
NOTE: Your primary luggage will be left in the trailer, and it's essential to pack a smaller bag (such as a small backpack or hand luggage) with necessary items for the two nights on the island. Transfers from the mainland to the island, where you'll be staying, will be conducted using dugout canoes (mokoro), which are unable to accommodate large bags. Your main luggage will be securely stored in the vehicle, parked in a designated secured area while you're on the island.
Day 4-6: Okavango Delta – Moremi /Xakanaka/3rd Bridge and Khwai (Camping) (B, L, D) (90km)
Following an early breakfast, you'll embark on a journey to Moremi Game Reserve, recognized as one of Botswana's premier wilderness areas, boasting both floodplain and woodland habitats. Over the next three days, immerse yourself in the quest for the diverse wildlife and birds that have made this area famous, all while revelling in the natural beauty it offers. Explore this magnificent Game Reserve for three nights, experiencing two different campsites. Expect routine game drives in the early morning and late afternoon as the sun sets, with camping at private designated campsites featuring bush ablutions.
Day 7: Moremi – Savuti /Zwei Zwei (Camping) (B, L, D) (120km)
Your upcoming destination is Chobe National Park, celebrated for its diverse and captivating landscapes. While persisting in your wildlife exploration, you'll navigate through the arid Savuti region, where bull elephants gracefully inhabit the plains. Renowned for its dynamic ecosystem, the Savuti region is subject to significant changes over time. The existence of waterholes, dry river channels, and marshes attracts a diverse array of animals, transforming each game drive into a thrilling and unpredictable adventure. Camping during this leg of the journey will take place in private designated areas with bush ablutions.
Day 8: Savuti – Chobe River (Camping) (B, L, D) (170km)
Next, you'll journey northward to the Chobe River, where your game drives will leisurely wind along the riverbanks, tracing the resonant call of the majestic African Fish Eagle. Revel in encounters with a diverse array of animals, including puku and Chobe bushbuck, while also being captivated by the stunning birdlife thriving in this unique river environment. The transition from Southern Chobe National Park to the Chobe River floodplain will be seamlessly carried out through a transfer/game drive, paving the way for further exploration with game drives in Northern Chobe National Park.
Day 9: Northern Chobe (Camping) (B, L, D)
Embark on thrilling game drives to immerse yourself in the lush landscapes of Northern Chobe and its expansive floodplain. Traverse diverse terrains, from verdant floodplains to expansive savannas, while in search of the abundant wildlife that thrives in this region. Keep a vigilant eye for iconic species such as elephants, buffaloes, and a myriad of birdlife. These game drives provide a meticulous exploration, allowing you to witness the dynamic ecosystems and captivating beauty that define Northern Chobe.
Day 10: Chobe – Vic Falls (Lodge Accommodation) (B) (100km) Border Crossing into Zimbabwe
